Before a company can sponsor employees under the Temporary Skill Shortage visa (subclass 482), it must first apply for approval as a sponsor, generally valid for five years.
The most common types of business sponsorship are:
- Standard Business Sponsor
- Accredited Sponsor
Contact AVP’s professional staff to discuss sponsorship requirements.
Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO) allows visa holders, employers, education providers and other organisations to check visa details and conditions.
VEVO tells you:
- which visa the person holds
- the expiry date of their visa
- the “must not arrive after” date
- the period of stay (how long the person can stay)
- conditions (including work and study rights).
Contact AVP’s professional staff to assist you with VEVO checks.
Eligible 482 occupations can be found on the relevant legislative instrument. The instrument is divided as follows and may be reviewed every six months:
- Short Term Skilled Occupation List
- Medium- and Long-Term Strategic Skills List
- Regional Occupation List
(Currently – IMMI 18/048: Specification of Occupations—Subclass 482 Visa Instrument 2018)
The list inclusion can determine the length of the 482 visa that can be applied for, whether the visa has the potential to transition to permanent residence, the level of English required, the amount of the visa application charge and the location of the employment.
Contact AVP’s professional staff to discuss list inclusion.
There are currently 24 Trade Occupations for 15 Passport Countries that presently require a skill assessment for 482 visa purposes.
The list can be found at Trades Recognition Australia
